Maldives Renames Its Main International Airport for the Third Time

With the beginning of the new year 2017, Maldives rename its main international airport from Ibrahim Nasir International Airport (INIA) to Velana International Airport (VIA). This is the third time Maldives renamed the airport.
  1. Hulhule' International Airport (Since beginning)
  2. Male' International Airport (President Maumoon renamed the airport in early 1980s)
  3. Ibrahim Nasir International Airport (President Mohamed Nasheed renamed the airprt on 26th July 2011)
  4. Velana International Airport (President Abdulla Yameen renamed the airport on 1st January 2017)
